Electrical Engineer, Substation Delivery.

The Electrical Engineer supports the owner-side delivery of high-voltage and medium-voltage substation assets serving data center loads. The role covers design review and site assurance across Germany and Italy, ensuring the substation scope is technically sound, compliant with local grid requirements and delivered to programme.

What you will own

• Carry out peer review of primary and secondary HV and MV substation design.
• Review single-line diagrams, protection and control philosophy, earthing, lightning protection and auxiliary systems.
• Verify compliance with German and Italian distribution and transmission network operator requirements.
• Review equipment specifications and support technical evaluation of transformers, switchgear and protection systems.
• Witness factory acceptance testing and review test documentation.
• Provide site supervision and technical assurance during installation, testing and energisation.
• Review contractor method statements for switching, testing and commissioning.
• Track and close technical queries, non-conformances and design changes.
• Support interfaces between the substation scope and wider data center electrical delivery.

What we look for

• Minimum eight years in HV or MV substation electrical engineering at 110kV and above.
• Command of substation primary and secondary systems design.
• Knowledge of German VDE and VDE-AR-N requirements.
• Knowledge of Italian CEI norms and DSO/TSO connection processes.
• Degree in electrical engineering.
• Fluent English with working German or Italian.
• Willingness to travel regularly between Germany and Italy.
• German and Italian language capability is desirable.
• Chartered engineer or Ingenieurkammer registration is desirable.
• Data center grid connection, commissioning or energisation experience is desirable.
• Independent judgement, technical credibility and clear written communication.
